An AMAZING ComSci 1 experience

I've been in a computer class before because Bicol University, where I studied grade school teaches in ComSci. I may have experienced studying ComSci but I have never encountered a class which is so extraordinary (maybe because of the teacher and the students, LOL). My first impression of ComSci 1 is so difficult. I guess it was affected by my first impression of the teacher who looks very serious and strict. All my first thoughts I told above turned out to be the opposite. The ComSci class here in Pisay is better than in BU (just an opinion) but the teacher it the best. Who would have thought that a serious-looking man is humurous and fond of cracking jokes? I never expected for a teacher like Sir Tom (try to check out my first post in this blog) to be that kind, humurous funny and a great teacher. Hi, Sir! If ever you're reading this (of course because it's our project. Haha, kidding), I would just like to say that my ComSci 1 turned out to be so mathematical (Inspired by Finn).
I don't know how to express it, all i know is that my experience is ineffable.:D Thanks for the knowledge you have shared to us that will surely help us in life situations. I also thank you for the sci facts you randomly tell depending on the situation. Thank you for the jokes sthat you told that truly made our days. Sorry, Sir for the wrong doings we have committed that made you mad or whatsoever. Lastly, thank you, Sir for being the coolest, amazing and extraordinary ComSci teacher I ever had.

With students love without sipsip,
Alea <3

Be obedient

Do not try to disobey any of the rules and regulations everywhere (especially in the Com Sci Lab).

Once we played in the Com Sci Lab of our school. Sir didn't scold us. He saw us for the second time and he became mad. I was so annoyed because I used Piper's computer for playing. If I didn't played on her PC, I won't be guilty.

So there it was. Sir told those who played (us) to stand then he wrote our names. He let us choose between 2 options. I forgot those options (HAHAH). Then sir told us that we will be given a sanction. We were very nervous and conscious on what the sanction will be.

No sanction, no incidental report, nothing happened, luckily. And from now on we followed the rules in the comsci lab. We always wait for Sir before entering the lab and open the computer when he tells us to do so. We truly learned the value of obedience because of this.

Diary of Alea

Dear blog,
I'm so happy you've been here for me since the first quarter. Thanks for acting as an electronic diary where I tell stories about Com Sci 1. Thank you, I  passed in the 1st to 3rd qtr Com Sci because of you (HAHAHA). I had a great time whenever I write on you. I learned being patient when you have a problem. I improved my brainstorming skills because of thinking topics. And lastly, I expressed myself and proved that I learned in Com Sci 1.

Practical test

We had our practical test in assembling the motherboard. My group mates were all boys T_T. I can't remember them, sorry. We connected the power box to the motherboard with the help of the IDE cable, we connected the RAM, the audio, graphics and LAN card, the CD drive and the hard drive. We had a tricky challenge on the conversion of the hard drive to a slave from a master. We almost got it wrong but was saved by the IDE cable because we connected it to the hard drive correctly. I had a fun experience and I learned new and cool things that can help me when our CPU's motherboard has a problem.

The Project

For the fourth quarter, our project's a bit difficult 'cause it's about installation of an operating system (OS). We must make a tutorial on how to install an OS, specifically, Windows 7. We were tasked to do it in a group of 3's. I came up grouping with Billy and Kiwi. As of today, we have done something  ._. I will try to put the video link here if ever we upload it.

System utilities

If you want to know if your computer has errors, you search for the the properties (right click the drive) ,tools, error checking, check now and start. Then you will earn if it has or not. To defragment your device search for properties (right click the drive) ,tools, defragmentation, defragment now, and analyze. It mostly helps in making your computer process fast. To back up your files, right click the device, then properties, backup, set up back up. If you want to restore your PC, simply search system restore. To avoid getting viruses from flash drives and memory cards, you must disable the autoplay. How? Just search for the autoplay then uncheck the use AutoPlay for all media and devices. You can also download applications about startup manager, live optimization, registry and disk cleaner and the duplicate finder.

Travelshooting

I entitled this post as "travelshooting" for it sounds like troubleshooting which will be the topic of this post. When your PC (personal computer) encounters a problem. You have to troubleshoot it. In troubleshooting, first you have to power check. Be sure that all power cords are correctly, firmly and solidly (not liquidly) connected. Don't try to fix it yourself. So the next one is the Power On Self Test (POST) Beep.

  • very short beep= problem on:BIOS award, motherboard and system memory
  • long beep then 3 sequential short beeps=problem on:graphics and configurations
  • short beep followed by 3 sequential long beeps=problem on:memory
  • Beep, pause, beep, pause, 2 sequential beeps= problem on: linked to CPU
  • 3 beeps, pause, 3 beeps, pause, 4 beeps=problem on: video memory
  • 1 long beep, 9 short=problem on: ROM (BIOS award)
  • 3 beeps, pause,4 beeps, pause, beep=problem on:graphics card
  • 4 beeps,pause,3beeps,pause,beep=problem on: system memory
  • 5 short beeps=problem on:CPU
  • long constant beeps=problem on:system memory
There you go. Now you know how to troubleshoot if ever your computer will be damaged.

First Long Test in Com Sci 1 for the first quarter

I seriously am annoyed with y self because of the answers I changed. I should've got 22 out of 25 but instead, I received 19. I was regretting about the changes I made.UGHHHHH! But then, I still feel fine because I passed (At least). Remember this guys when you're taking tests, always review your answers before submitting them. ;D
I don't know about you but I should have been twenty-two.

Perfect squore

If you'll read the title, you'll come up saying "perfect score." I made the "square" to "score." I just got a perfect score and perfect sqaure got into my mind. I got a perfect score in the 1st quiz for the quarter and for the year in Com Sci. I really hope I will have a perfect score in all quizzes and tests for this whole year and quarter. HAHAHAHA.
